Momentum for High-Performing and Creative Entrepreneurs

As a high-performing and creative entrepreneur, have you ever asked yourself if you could focus better? Do you wonder how to bridge where you are now (this moment) with your purpose and future vision?

We can do this with a focused presence because focusing on one moment at a time creates moment-um.

As a young and high-capacity co-founder/CEO breaking new ground in the European fintech community, my client was ready to up-level his performance. Driving achievement through relentless work ethic and intensity, he had come to believe - unconsciously - that this approach was the only path to success. He was in a red line and crash lane well before any disaster, but he was already experiencing physical symptoms of extreme stress. Standing at the precipice of a massive leap for his company, he wanted to focus and lead more effectively. Something needed to change … for the good of everyone.

We talked about a daily practice of being present for moments at a time to reset his nervous system. As an athlete, he knew about the power of presence to improve focus and performance. However, implementing this practice sounded like a foreign language to his high-performing and overactive mind.

And yet, it didn’t. My client had the key ingredients: he was already self-reflective, physically active, and extremely curious about his life and its purpose. He wanted deeper relationships and to “have an impact.”

Every morning, he dedicated a few minutes to calm and intentional breathing. With this simple exercise, he realized he was holding his breath during the day. At those times, when he restarted his breathing, magic happened, and he was focused and in action once again.

My client discovered a fundamental truth:  refocusing and breathing can create a different kind of momentum, beginning with the present and leading from one focused moment to another.

He now holds the vision for his company and its purpose while also paying attention to each moment - a multidimensional awareness of the many aspects of his role at once.

Sometimes, the simpler the shift, the more profound and sustainable the change.

It's very human to intensely look ahead at outcomes without paying attention to the steps we’re furiously taking to realize those dreams. Ironically, that’s when we get stuck or even trip over ourselves in the face of uncertainty. We can forget to breathe, the essential element of focused awareness and high performance, and momentum can falter. To restart our high-performance process, we can breathe and begin again.

So, where have you halted yourself and forgotten to breathe? Reset and breathe - metaphorically and actually - it’s like recharging your vehicle. You’ll be back on purpose with a new and improved focus.

Moment by moment, you’ll mine the gold and achieve your high-capacity output with passion and clarity.
